So, on Mondays or Tuesdays @ the warehouse, Dottie wants to start a study group based on the book, The Artist's Way. I am just trying to gauge whether anyone still wants to do the mojo_meeting @ the Warehouse on Tuesdays. It is kinda hot outside, and I would understand if people were wanting to find air conditioning during the summer. We had five people show up tonight... I would like to keep this going, and I am curious to see what other people's preferences are!

Hey all. I'm going to be attending my first meeting tonight. (I was going to make it last week, but things got a little too crazy).

Anyways, aside from my desire to join in these meetings, I also thought that the Mojo Meetings would make for a really good subject for an episode of my podcast, Flipp'd OUT. Basically, I'd like to know if the people attending tonight would be willing to let me record their thoughts on what these meetings are all about, and perhaps to also include a few snippets of the discussion in an episode.

If it's not cool, that's fine. I just wanted to get the group's opinion. See ya'll tonight.

After a two year period to grok what we all learned together, the Mojo Meetings are getting started back up again!

This time they won't be at Bean and !Bob's house! (Yay! No more vacuuming all the time!) They will be at the warehouse!
Hopefully opening the meetings up to more members of the community.

What am I talking about?
The Mojo Meetings are a spirituality discussion forum.
We are going to be doing the topics a little differently this time around- we will do the grab bag method. You can add topics to the mix for future meetings. If you want to speak on something or have a speaker, let us know ahead of time so interested people can show and/or it can be announced as something special.

If you would like to have out-of-meeting discussion you can go to our online community forum. You don't have to sign up with livejournal.com to do so(although it's free), you can post anonymously, just sign your name so we know who we are talking to.

The meetings will be every Tuesday night from 7:30pm until about 10:30pm. We'll get started at 8pm sharp with a 15-20 minute meditation, if you arrive during that time, please quietly join us. After that we'll pick the topic and go to town!

All faiths welcome, including atheists! (We have some!)

We've had discussion, speakers, lectures, rituals, potlucks, celebrations etc. It's super fun.

Bring something to drink and eat if you like. A chair or pillow would be good too- although there are chairs and couches. Leave No Trace! Bring all trash home with you!

See you Tuesday!

I'm really excited about this. Our community is so full of faith and spirituality and we have no central spiritual cohesion within our greater secular community. I hope that getting the meetings going at the warehouse will foster that cohesion and spiritual community.
And the thing is, there are so many different faiths represented. And all respected. We loved learning about other people's beliefs. Very cool. Yay!

11:39 am - Meeting place?

Well, I think we've waited long enough for Glen to be ready for us at the Dojo.

How about we meet at the Warehouse(the Flipside warehouse on the East side just off Airport -1023 Springdale Road) on Tuesday evenings? I know that's not optimal for some. Thursdays are also available, but we might have to meet out in the grass or out front or something since it's also a build night and there might be power tool usage.

What do you guys think?

It sure would be nice to see you all again. :)

Hi lovelies!

Shanta and I got a chance to talk to Glenn this weekend
and he said something about maybe getting the Mojo Meetings up and running
in about a month- maybe less.

I'll let you know when I know more.
We have been talking about Thursdays as our meeting night.
Mondays and Wednesdays are right out. Tuesdays are periodically taken for a few of us.
Fridays are bellydancing for quite a few.
Thursdays seem to be the only day that a lot of the people I talked to could make it.

I hope we can all meet again very soon.
I miss so many of you.

It'll be at the dojo behind Glenn's place.
When we use it, it'll be the Mojo Dojo!
We'll have to bring all of our own teas and food.
And I think we'll be peeing in the woods till we can maybe get a composting potty.
I bet, if interested we could acquire one with donations from us and the Aikido people.

Anyway, it's all the new info I have.

hey guys, it looks like we may be able to start meeting again in October.
I've talked to GlenPig and he and Sensei Strange have said that they feel good about the idea of hosting the meetings in the dojo.
We will be meeting at the Mojo Dojo(it's name only while we are there;)
I'll let you know when I know more information about starting dates and whatnot.

So...I've been hearing from people, a whisper here, a comment or thought there
about their experiences with the Mojo Meetings.
I've met a lot of really great people through them
But Bob and I just got way too busy to host them.

So here's my thought:
There's been enough interest in starting them up again
that I think we should have a meeting
about the meetings!

Bob and I are not really all that interested in having them at our house anymore.
So we were thinking about our available community spaces.
And of course the idea of our warehouse came to mind.
I'm going to ask and see if this is even possible(it probably is)
but I wanted to see if you guys were still interested in meeting.

I think it would be great to talk about what we want from them.
What kinds of topics
how the meetings would go etc.

I haven't talked to the LLC/CC about using the space yet
so don't get all riled up about this quite yet.
And we'd probably need a contingency plan for the winter(freaking cold!!!)

Let's hear what you think about all of this.
Did the meetings work for you?
Did you get something out of it?
Would you come to more?
What more would you like to see?
Tell me everything!
And feel free to post these thoughts as community posts
rather than just comments here.
Lemme hear your spirit speak!~

apologies to those of you who are not attending Burning Flipside this year (although your comments are welcome in any case)...

this evening @ The Warehouse (1023 Springdale Rd., #105), we're having a discussion about ritual transference of the festival from the previous location @ the Recreation Plantation to its new location @ Flat Creek!

when i asked my friend, queenofhalves, for any guidance on this sort of situation, she mentioned that CMA used an effective method where they brought items (art, relics, artifacts, etc.) to represent each of the years that the festival was held at its previous location (which also happened to be the Recreation Plantation), and ceremonially recognized each of them in a ritual held at the new location.

do any o'y'all have comments or further suggestions?

Hello everybody~

As you've probaby surmised, the mojo meetings aren't happening anymore. I don't feel like looking to see if I mentioned this before.

If anyone else would like to host them, I would love to see them keep going.
I just don't have the time.

But- !Bob and I have been tossing around the idea of having a Sunday evening tea/coffe chat time. No topic, just a come on over and see us and talk for a while sort of thing.

Maybe every couple of weeks.

So this Sunday, being so close to Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, I was tossing around the idea of transforming our altar space again. And inviting others to add their own stuff to it.

If there's interest.

Let me know.
Talk to you soon~

9:23 pm - Check this out. Survival. Mojo Meeting alternative. One night only.

This Wednesday night the 5th at 7:30 PM.

Alobar is an old hippie who reads Tarot cards in New Orleans. He stayed for Hurricane Katrina, then was forced to evacuate when food water ran out. Only there were no buses at the evacuation point (the Convention Center). When he attempted to leave the evacuation point, he was told he would be shot if he did not remain there. No food, water, medical atention, or police protection was available for several days. Most people down where Alobar was (in a parking garage 3 blocks from the Convention center) worked together to form small family groups, and build larger communities. People foraged for food & water, policed their own communities, and survived. Alobar has observations on what made it difficult for some to keep up good spirits, and what helped others to do so. Alobar also has about 45 minutes of video footage.

"The class should take 3-4 hours. Part of the class will be a showing of the ~40 minutes of video I shot. I encourage you to take notes and ask questions. I will not deal much with what the government did or did not do properly. This class is about survival, not political criticism."

Because he is trying to live w/o the need of an external job, he is taking donations, but don't let that stop you from coming to hear what he has to say if you can't afford to give anything. He just wants the info out there.

Anyone planning to attend class should be sure to eat beforehand as NO refreshments will be served. Likewise, I strongly suggest bringing a bottle of water.

This will be held at sheilagh's place. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you directions.

6:44 pm - Ride to meetings?

Hello. Me again.

I posted about this a while back, but things were a bit crazy and I wasn't really able to start attending. Circumstances have also changed a bit since, and I suddenly have much less free time on my hands than I did a couple months ago. :)

If anyone is driving from north central-ish to the mojo meetings, would you be interested in carpooling for a bit of help with gas money? I'm on the #3 route, but I think I'm familiar with the stop, and if it's the one I'm thinking of then I've gone there before, and including the walk to the stop plus the wait, the commute is something like 1-1.5 hours one-way. As it's a much quicker drive, I'm totally willing to buy someone a gallon of gas, snack or something and arrive in a third of that time or less. :) I also work now, meaning that I'd get off at anywhere between 5 and 6 (or possibly later.)

Of course, I work very far south, and should it not be an issue, I could probably arrive somewhat early and help with setting things up, saving someone the trip to bring me there and, hopefully, offering whatever help I may. I'd still like to find a lift back north, however.

If you're interested, please drop me a line. I can't make the next two, so we're talking about a bit of crazy advanced planning here. :) Thanks.

My busy week has made me forget to post about this week.

Tomorrow evening we will gather, meditate and then go draw with sidewalk chalk all over the parking lot of the senior citizen recreation center.

We can talk about art and drawing and how it fits in with our spiritual personalities and expression.

I hope to see you tomorrow.

You are loved~
